On July 6, the press conference for the 2026 World Robot Conference was held in Beijing, unveiling key industrial data that outlines a dynamic picture of China’s robotics sector—marked by expanding scale, technological breakthroughs, and an increasingly mature ecosystem. Data showed that from January to May 2026, revenue generated by large-scale domestic robotics enterprises surpassed 90 billion yuan, growing 26.9% year-on-year, reflecting sustained momentum in industry growth.
Backed by a vast manufacturing base and continuous technological investment, China has maintained its position as the world’s largest industrial robot market for thirteen consecutive years. With ongoing efforts in domestic substitution, homegrown brands now account for over 50% of the domestic industrial robot market, shifting competition from mere market share capture to comprehensive strength.
Hao Lishun, Deputy Director of the Department of Equipment Industry I at the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, noted during the conference that the competitive landscape of China’s robotics industry has clearly evolved. The focus is no longer solely on individual product performance or market size, but increasingly on supply chain collaboration and the integration of industrial ecosystems. Today, a highly efficient collaborative network has been established among robot manufacturers, core component suppliers, research institutes, and end users. Meanwhile, public services such as standard development, product testing and certification, talent training, and technology commercialization are being continuously strengthened, laying a solid foundation for the industry’s healthy operation.
The rise in industrial capabilities is evident across all segments of the value chain. Domestic self-sufficiency in critical components continues to grow, while the intelligence level of robotic systems steadily improves. Frontiers such as humanoid robots are seeing accelerated development, with foundational technologies like operating systems and simulation platforms advancing rapidly, leading to an increasingly complete and mature technical framework.
Xu Xiaolan, member of the National Committee of the Chinese People’s Political Consultative Conference and President of the China Institute of Electronics, stated that China has established a full-chain industrial support system for humanoid robots, covering materials, core components, system integration, real-world deployment, and data services. This comprehensive industrial chain enables rapid iteration and upgrading. Export figures further highlight the global competitiveness of China’s advanced manufacturing: in the first quarter of 2026, exports of humanoid robots surged 210% year-on-year, emerging as a new hallmark of “Made in China” going global.
According to the press conference, the 2026 World Robot Conference will be held from August 19 to 23 in Beijing Economic-Technological Development Zone under the theme “Human-Robot Coexistence, Production and Demand Integration.” The event will showcase cutting-edge products and technologies in industrial, humanoid, and service robotics, serving as a vital platform for industry collaboration, technical exchange, and international cooperation, further propelling China’s robotics sector toward higher quality development.
