China’s Industrial Robot Exports Rise 13% as Cobots Crack Germany and Japan

China exported RMB 7.34 billion of industrial robots in the first seven months of 2026, up 13.2% year on year, reaching 141 countries, customs data show.

Market Expansion

The standout trend is a rapid push into developed markets. Shanghai-port exports jumped 39.5% in the first five months, with average unit price rising from RMB 62,000 to RMB 86,000. Chinese vendors have entered the home turf of Germany and Japan — shipments to Germany surged 84%, to Japan 36.5%.

Collaborative Robots Leadership
Collaborative robots are leading the charge. China’s cobot market grew from under 1,000 units in 2015 to over 40,000 in 2025, a 50% CAGR, with domestic brands holding about 90% share. Dobot ranked No.1 globally in cobot shipments in 2025, topping 100,000 cumulative units; JAKA led China with about 20% share.

Global Strategy at Canton Fair
At the ongoing Canton Fair, overseas buyers arrive with concrete line-level requirements rather than window-shopping, according to exhibitors. Chinese firms are tailoring offers regionally: CE-certified and data-compliant products for Europe; price-competitive models for ASEAN; inspection and service robots for the Middle East.

The shift signals China’s robotics industry moving beyond low-cost manufacturing toward brand and solution exports — a new calling card for Chinese trade.
